we will write the given sets as intervals

so,

`\begin{gathered} D=\lbrack4,\infty) \\ E=(-\infty,8) \end{gathered}`

The intersections and the union of the sets will be as follows:

`\begin{gathered} D\cap E=\lbrack4,8) \\ \\ D\cup E=(-\infty,\infty) \end{gathered}`
