Use the identity

1+\tan ^2x=\sec ^2x

Then the expression becomes

(\sec^2x)/(\sec x)=\sec x

Now, sec x is the reciprocal of cos x.

(1+\tan^2x)/(\sec x)=(1)/(\cos x)
