Find PQ if Q is the midpoint between PR while PR = 14x +2 and QR = 6 -3x

if Qis the midpoint between PR, we immediately get to know that 2QR=PR. The question immediately tells us that QR is half of PR, so we can use that to our help.

Now, since 2QR=PR, we can make the equations equal by multiplying whole QR by 2

we get 2(6-3x)=14x+2

=>12-6x=14x+2

=>12-2=14x+6x

=>10=20x

=>x=10/20

=>x=1/2

since Q is the midpoint of PR, PQ=QR,

=>PQ=6-3x

and then you can put the value of x in PQ by substitution

on substituting x=1/2 in PQ, we get

PQ=6-3(1/2)

PQ=6-1.5

PQ=4.5
