One of the myths regarding open book testing is that students can just copy straight from the book during the exam. The reason why this is a myth is that open book testing requires students to still apply their knowledge, analyze information, and interpret data in their own words. While the material that students use is not restricted, the expectation for open book testing is for students to use the available material to demonstrate their understanding and mastery of the material, not just to copy and paste it. This means that the students still have to actively apply critical thinking skills and analysis to complete the tests successfully.
