The vertices of triangle EFG are E(-3, 2), F(-3, 0), and G(0, 0). The

triangle will be reflected over the x-axis. What will be the vertices of the image triangle?

A. E'(-2, -3), F'(0, 3), G'(0, 0)
B. E'(-3, -2), F'(-3, 0), G'(0, 0)
C. E'(3, 2), F'(3, 0), G'(0, 0)
D. E'(2,3), F'(0,3), G'(0, 0)

Answer:

B. E'(-3, -2), F'(-3, 0), G'(0, 0)

Explanation:

When a point (x, y) is reflected over the x-axis the new coordinates will be
(x', y') where x'x = x and y' = -y

In other words, the transformation is
(x, y) ⇒ ((x, -y)

Point E is (-3, 2) . When transformed e' becomes (-3, -2)

The only choice where E' is (-3, -2) is choice B

You can test the others if you wish

Answer:
B. E'(-3, -2), F'(-3, 0), G'(0, 0)
