In the figure, a block of mass m is moving along the horizontal frictionless surface with a speed of 5.70 m/s. If the slope is 11.0°. How far does the block travel up the incline?

Correct answer is 8.7m. Could someone please explain how?

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

By resolving the the gravity force, we find the acceleration in the direction of the block to be :
a= -g sin(11)

We know:
v^2-v_o=2ax

Since final velocity=0:

0-v_o=-g sin(11)x

Solving for x, we get:

x=8.687m=8.7m
