Answer:

10

Explanation:

Number of children on the boat = a

Number of adults b

Children is equal to half of b, so a = b/2

If a + b = 30, b/2 + b = 30

1.5b = 30

Divide both sides by 1.5

b= 20

There are 20 adults

Back to question, children = b/2 = 20/2

Answer:

10 children are on the boat tour

Explanation:

Let's call the number of adults "x" and the number of children "y".

From the problem, we know that there are half as many children as adults, so:

y = (1/2)*x

We also know that there are a total of 30 people on the tour, so:

x + y = 30

We can substitute the first equation into the second equation to eliminate y:

x + (1/2)*x = 30

Simplifying the equation, we get:

(3/2)*x = 30

Multiplying both sides by 2/3, we get:

x = 20

Now we can use the first equation to find y:

y = (1/2)*x = (1/2)20 = 10

Therefore, there are 10 children on the boat tour.
