\begin{gathered} y\text{ = 2x - 4}-----(1) \\ y\text{ = }(2)/(3)x\text{ + 4}-----(2) \\ \text{from equation 1.} \\ y-2x\text{ = -4------(5)} \\ y-(2x)/(3)\text{ = 4-------(6)} \\ \text{solving equation 5 \& 6 by subtarcting equation 6 from equation 5, }y,\text{ will be eliminated} \\ y-2x\text{ = -4} \\ -(y-(2x)/(3)\text{ = 4)} \\ -2x\text{ + }(2x)/(3)\text{ = -8}------(7) \\ multiply\text{ equation (7) by the L.C.M, which is }3 \\ -2x(3)\text{ + }(2x)/(3)(3)\text{ = -8(3)} \\ -6x\text{ + 2}x\text{ = -24} \\ -4x\text{ = -24} \\ x\text{ = }(24)/(4)\text{ = 6} \\ \text{substitute }x\text{ into the equation }(5) \\ y-2x\text{ = -4} \\ y\text{ -2(6) = -4} \\ y\text{ - 12 = -4} \\ y\text{ = -4 + 12 = 8} \\ x\text{ = 6, y = 8} \end{gathered}
