The area of the Great Hall in the blueprint is 1 5/16 in?why does multiplying the blueprint area by the scale factor 20 not give the area of the floor of the actual Great Hall?

we know that

To obtain the actual area we need to multiply the area of the Great Hall in the blueprint by the scale factor squared

so

A=(1 5/16)(20^2)

convert mixed number to an improper fraction

A=(21/16)(400)=525 units^2

to obtain the actual length, we need to multiply the scale factor by the length in the drawing

to obtain the actual area we need to multiply the area in the drawing by the scale factor squared
