An inherited blood condition is hemophilia C. It occurs when one of the 13 blood proteins or clotting factors that help to slow or stop blood flow is missing. Because the F11 gene was not inherited, hemophilia C patients lack the clotting factor or blood protein XI, often known as factor 11.
