Answer:

The days have been long, far longer than normal. It's difficult to keep going. The trenches fill up with water due to the endless rain. Making mud that is impossible to move through. Though it is nothing compared to the gas the other unit encountered.

It's horrible to live in continual worry of not knowing what will happen next. The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that it will all be worthwhile in the end. All of this bloodshed will come to an end, and life will go on. If I live long enough to see it.

The constant fear of not knowing what might happen next is terrifying. The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that all this will mean something in the end. All this blood shed will eventually end and life will continue. If I live long enough to experience it.
