Simplifying √25 :

The square roots of 25 are √25=5 and −√25=−5 since 52=25 and (−5)2=25 . The principal square root of 25 is √25=5 .

Simplifying √13² :

√ 13² = √13 · √13

√13 · √13 = 3.6056 · 3.6056

3.6056 · 3.6056 = 13

Simplifying √289 :

Clearly, 289 is a perfect square, such as;

289 = 17 x 17

Therefore, if we take the square root on both the sides, we get;

√289 = √(17 x 17)

√289 = 17

Simplifying 27² :

27² = 27 * 27

= 729

Answer: 13^2=169, 27^2 = 729, sqrt25 = 5, and sqrt289 = 17

Explanation:

^2 means multiply by itself 2 times

13^2 = 13 x 13 = 169

27^2 = 27 x 27 = 729

Square root asks the question “what number multiplied by itself twice is equal to ____?”

sqrt25 = sqrt(5x5) = 5

sqrt289 = sqrt(17 x 17) = 17
