Explanation:

Let the ratios 3:5 be 3x and 5x ,

3x+5x = 1200

8x=1200

x=1200/8 = 150

As ratio of boys = 3,

3x150 = 450 boys

And as ratio of girls = 5,

5x150 = 750 girls
