the area of a triangle is calculated as

area =
(1)/(2) bh ( b is the base and h the perpendicular height )

here b = 3.6 and h = 4.8 , then

area =
(1)/(2) × 3.6 × 4.8 = 8.64 ft²

the area of a semicircle is half the area of a circle, that is

area =
(1)/(2) πr² ( r is the radius )

here diameter = 3.6 , then r = 3.6 ÷ 2 = 1.8

area =
(1)/(2) × 3.14 × 1.8²

= 0.5 × 3.14 × 3.24

≈ 5.1 ft² ( to the nearest tenth )

the total area (A) is then the sum of the 2 parts

A = 8.64 + 5.1

≈ 13.7 ft²
