A shipwreck salvage company uses a lifting bag to raise a cannon off the sea bed. The bag is

inflated with nitrogen to a volume of 5 m³ at the sea bed pressure of 300 kPa. Assuming no change
in temperature, what would the volume of the lifting bag be at sea level where the pressure is 100
kPa?

To solve this problem, we will use the formula:

P1V1=P2V2

m^3 is volume, kPa is pressure.

(300kPa)(5m^3)=(100kPa)V2

Multiply:

(1500kPa/m^3)=(100kPa)V2

Divide both sides by 100kPa:

15m^3=V2

Hope this helped!
