Tanya went to the store and bought a box of spaghetti noodles for $4. She also bought x pounds of ground beef for $3.52 per pound. The total amount of money Tanya spent can be represented by the equation 18 = 3.52x + 4. How many pounds of ground beef did Tanya buy?

look at the equation and subtract (because subtraction is the opposite of addition) 4 from 4 to cancel that number out, and then subtract 4 from 18 as well. in order to get x by itself you need to divide 3.52x by 3.52 and it will just leave you with 3.52. now you divide 14 by 3.52 and you’ll get the answer

x is equal to 3.97
