Alright so first you are going to make an equation to represent the problem. It should look something like this:
(142.5)-(9.5x)
where x is the amount of tickets sold
Now we are going to set the equation equal to 0 and solve for x.
(142.5)-(9.5x)=0
(142.5)=(9.5x)
15=x
So the theatre club would need to sell 15 tickets to cover the cost of food. Let me know if you have any questions!
