n = Natalie’s age
f = Fred’s age
n + f = 41
f + 4n = 80
Solve:
n = 41 - f
f + 4(41 - f) = 80
f + 164 -4f =80
-3f + 164 = 80
-3f = -84
f = 28
n + 28 = 41
n = 13
(28, 13)
