k stands for a whole number. k + 7 is greater than 100. k − 7 is less than 90. Find all the numbers that k could be.

Explanation:

We are given k is an integer

and k + 7 > 100 (subtract 7 from both sides to eliminate 7 on the left side)

==> k > 100-7

==> k > 93

k - 7 < 90 (add 7 to both sides to eliminate -7 on the left side)

==> k < 90+7

==> k < 97

So we get the inequality

93 < k < 97

which means k = 94, 95 or 96 all of which are > 93 but less than 97
