Explanation:

If y=6x+1, we can substitute that into the original equation, so it would look like 3x+6x+1=10.

Now we just solve for x. Add 3x and 6x to get 9x, and subtract 1 from both sides of the equation, now we have

9x=9, divide both sides by 9 and we end up with x=1.
