Solving an equation with variables on both sides:
- Isolate for the variable - get the variables together on one side of the equation and get integers on the other side of the equation
- use inverse operations to do so
1. expand to get rid of the parenthesis

2. combine like terms

3. use inverse operations to get variable terms on one side and the integer term on the other side

- moving -2 and +2x we need to add and subtract them from their respective sides of the equation
4. combine like terms

5. isolate for x

x=
