I would like for you to put each word in a sentence that shows understanding of that word. Remember, for a sentence to show understanding of the word, there needs to be context clues in the sentence that hints at the meaning of the word.

For example, "The automobile accident was so gruesome that I had to look away from the horrible sight." is a sentence that helps us see the word gruesome must mean "frightening" because it tells us the narrator had to "look away from the horrible sight".

If you were to write a sentence such as this: "That is so gruesome." it would be wrong because it does not give us any clues to the meaning of the word. You could put almost any word in that sentence and it would still not show understanding of the word.

Below are this week's vocabulary words, you may need to look up a few of them in the dictionary if you do not remember what they mean. Write your sentence under each word.

1. endorse

2. erode

3. gruesome

4. hypocrite

5. idealistic

6. illusion

7. impact

8. imply

9. novice

10. obstacle
