A circle has a diameter of 11cm and a square has a side length of 7cm. use pythagoras theorem to show that the square will fit inside the circle without touching the edge of the circle.

please help me i am so lost

The diameter of the circle is 11cm, so the radius is (11cm)/2 = 5.5cm.

The side length of the square is 7cm, so the diagonal of the square can be found by using the Pythagorean theorem:

diagonal = √(side length^2 + side length^2) = √(7^2 + 7^2) = √98 = 9.899494936611665 cm

We can see that the diagonal of the square is 9.899494936611665cm which is less than the radius of the circle, 5.5cm.

Therefore, the square will fit inside the circle without touching the edge of the circle.
