Answer:

  • C) (500x - 1250)/x(x - 5)

----------------------------------

We know that the equation for the time is:

  • time = distance / speed

Find the time at travel in the first day:

  • 250/x

Find the time at travel in the second day:

  • 250/(x - 5)

To find the total time add app the two expressions we got above:

  • 250/x + 250/(x - 5) =
  • 250[1/x + 1/(x - 5)] =
  • 250(x - 5 + x)/x(x - 5) =
  • 250(2x - 5)/x(x - 5) =
  • (500x - 1250)/x(x - 5)

There matching choice is C.
