Which trade route was more significant to post-Classical Africa, the Gold-Salt Roads or the Indian Ocean trade route?

The main trade route was the Trans- Saharan route but in this cause it would be gold- salt roads. Because gold would provide great wealth to west African empires. And the salt was good to preserve food and for flavor.
