What must their test average to havean A in the course?4. Using the information from above, suppose that the same student has a 87,95, and 72 as their test grades so far.What must they get on their next test in order to have a 93 overall in the course?

If the grades are given as

Homework = 92

Quiz = 88

Participation = 100

Test = T

It means the total scores obtained is derived as

Total score = 92 + 88 + 100 + T

Also note that an A for the student would be a 90% of the total scores obtainable. The total scores obtainable is 400. 90% of 400 would be

Percentage = 400 * 0.9

Percentage = 360

Hence for this student to have an A in the course, he/she must have the following scores

360 = 92 + 88 + 100 + T

Collect like terms and you now have;

360 - 92 - 88 - 100 = T

80 = T

Hence the calculations show that the student's test score must be an average of 80 points in other to have an A in this course
