Answer is C) 5 x 10^5

The picture is not real clear
I will solve for 2.1 x 10^6 ÷ 4.2 x 10^2

Step by step

When you multiply or divide problems with a number to the 10th powers, you add the exponents for multiply or subtract for division, and solve the numbers by multiply or divide.

So 2.1 x 10^6 ÷ 4.2 x 10^2= ?

2.1 ÷ 4.2 = .5

10^6 - 10^2 = 10^4

.5 x 10^4
simplify (because we need a single number not a decimal)

Move the decimal to the right by 1 increases your exponent by 1

5 x 10^5

step 1

Divide 2.1 x 10^8 by 4.2x 10^2

(2.1\cdot10^8)/(4.2\cdot10^2)=0.5\cdot10^6=5\cdot10^5

the answer is option C
