We can use the next formula

d=ut+(at^2)/(2)

where d is the distance, u is the initial velocity, a is the acceleration, t is the time.

In this case

u=0 m/s

a=8.7 m/s^2

t=9.7 s

we susbtitute

d=(0)(9.7)+((8.7)(9.7)^2)/(2)=409.3m

ANSWER

The distance is 409.3 m
