24 : 20 = 6 : 5

24 is 6 * 4

20 is 5 * 4

6 is 6 * 1

and 5 is 5 * 1

so x = 5

$24:20=6:x\\\\(24)/(20)=(6)/(x)\ \ \ \ \ |cross\ multiply\\\\24x=20*6\\\\24x=120\ \ \ \ \ |divide\ both\ sides\ by\ 24\\\\\boxed{x=5}$
