Suppose the probability of a student takes AP Calculus as is on the honor roll is 0.0035, and the probability that a student is on the honor roll is 0.23. Find the probability that a student takes AP Calculus given that he or she is on the honor roll.

This is a question about conditional probability.

P(B|A) = (P(AandB))/(P(A))

P(AP~calc|Honor~roll) = (P(AP~calc~and~honor~roll))/(P(honor~roll))= (0.0035)/(0.23)\approx0.015

Find the probability of the students that took the calculus can be on the honor roll.
0.0035 => probability of students that take the AP Calculus
0.23 => probability of the students that can be on the honor roll

Let’s find the solution:
x = probability of the students that took the calculus can be on the honor roll.
=> x = 0.0035 / 0.23
=> 0.015
Thus, there is 0.015 probability that the students who took the AP Calculus can be on honor roll.
