It would weigh 12 lbs because 50% of 8 is 4 and 4 + 8 = 12 lbs.

Answer:

12 lb

Explanation:

The baby weighed 8 pounds at birth which means this was the babys original weight. If the baby's weight increased by 50%, it will be 50% of 8 pounds plus the 8 pounds. The percentage 50% iin fraction form is:

50/100

50% of 8 pounds is:

=(50/100)\cdot{8}=400/100=4

To get the final weight, we must add 4 to the original weight of 8 pound:

4+8=12
