Find the ratio of each side:

Since the dilation enlarges the second triangle, the scale factor must be greater than 1.

Take 2 corresponding sides:

4 = 2 ?

Solve for ? (scale factor )

4/2 = ?

2= ?

2 (2) = 4

5 (2) = x in

5(2) = 10

(y+1) 2 = 3

Solve for y:

2y+2 = 3

2y= 3-2

2y=1

y= 1/2

a) scale factor = 2

b) x = 10

c) y= 1/2
