The immune system fights off Tuberculosis by detecting it first having macrophages go after the bacterium and produce interleukins and cGAS. Interleukins trigger other components of the immune system into action while cGAS signals the production of interferons that reduce the amount of immune response. This happens because Tuberculosis tricks the macrophages by having its DNA get inside and infect the macrophage. Since macrophages get infected by Tuberculosis, it is hard for the body to battle it.

A person suspected of Tuberculosis should go to a doctor to get an examination. An intervention like taking combinations of antibacterial medicines that may last for as long as one year. To prevent the spread of TB by the infected individual, there are certain routines that need to be done like taking medicine religiously, covering the mouth when coughing, and sneezing with a tissue, the used tissues are needed to be separated and thrown as infectious waste, avoid close contact to anyone, and sleep alone in a well-ventilated room.
