we write teo equations for each statement

an evening flight had six less than twice the number of passengers that a morning flight

e=2m-6

the total number of passengers on both sides was 753

e+m=753

where e is the passengers on evening flight and m the passengers on morning flight

we will solve two equations with two unknowns

\begin{gathered} e=2m-6 \\ e+m=753 \end{gathered}

we will use the substitution method

we wiil replace the value of e from the first equation on the second

\begin{gathered} e+m=753 \\ (2m-6)+m=753 \end{gathered}

now solve for m

\begin{gathered} 2m-6+m=753 \\ 3m-6=753 \\ 3m=753+6 \\ m=(759)/(3) \\ \\ m=253 \end{gathered}

the morning flight had 253 passengers
