Suppose you have a solution that is either an acid or a base. It doesn’t react with any metals. Is the pH of the solution more likely to be 4 or 9?

It is more likely to be 9 as pH 8 and above are Alkali (Base) and alkali solutions don't tend to react with metals.

Hope this helps :) ~

Answer:

9

Step-by-step explanation:

One of the properties common to all acids is reaction with metals. Dilute acids react with metals to form the corresponding metal salt and hydrogen gas. Since the solution could either be an acid or base, once it does not react with a metal, we can conclude that it is a base and should be the solution having a pH of 9.
