We have an equation: 315/? = 5/3

Cross multiply:
5*? = 315*3
⇒ ? = 315*3/5 = 189

There were 189 riders~

5/3 = 315/x

Cross multiply

5*x = 5x
3*315 = 945

5x = 945
5x/5 = 945/5

x= 945/5
x= 189
