If you would like to calculate
1 1/3 + 1 3/7
, you can do this using the following steps:
1 1/3 + 1 3/7 = 4/3 + 10/7 = 28/21 + 30/21 = (28 + 30) / 21 = 58/21 = 2 16/21
The correct result would be
2 16/21
.
