  • m1=0.5kg
  • m2=0.3kg
  • v1=2m/s
  • v2=4m/s

Apply law of conservation of linear momentum


\\ \sf\longmapsto m1v1+m2v2=(m1+m2)(v3)


\\ \sf\longmapsto 0.5(2)+0.3(4)=(0.2+0.3)v3


\\ \sf\longmapsto 1+1.2=0.5v_3


\\ \sf\longmapsto 2.2=0.5v_3


\\ \sf\longmapsto v3=2.2/0.5


\\ \sf\longmapsto v3=4.4m/s

⭐ Let's assume that the two objects colliding with each other be A & B.

⭐ Let's assume that the two objects colliding with each other be having velocities (v1) and (v2) for object A and object B respectively.

Given data:-

  • Mass of object A (m1) = 0.50 Kg

  • Mass of object B (m2) = 0.30 Kg

  • Velocity/speed of object A (v1) = 2m/s

  • Velocity/speed of object B (v2) = 4m/s

To find:-

  • Final velocities of two objects (v3) = ?

Solution:-

For calculating the velocities of two objects colliding with each other we must apply law of conservation of momentum which is given by,


\Rrightarrow\rm{m_1v_1 + m_2v_2 = (m_1 + m_2) * (v_3)}

Substituting values in each,


\Rrightarrow\rm{0.5 * 2 + 0.3 * 4 = (0.2 + 0.3) * v_3}


\Rrightarrow\rm{ 1 + 1.2 = 0.5 * v_3}


\Rrightarrow\rm{2.2 = 0.5 * v3}


\Rrightarrow\rm{v_3 = (2.2)/(0.5) }


\Rrightarrow\rm{v_3 = 4.4}

  • Final velocities of two objects are 4.4m/s
