Why is 7/10 less than 4/5

if you find the LCD of the two fractions, (10) and multiply the second one to be over tenths, it is 8/10. because 8/10 is more than 7/10, it is the greater of the two.

Since both fractions mean to divide, I like to divide the numerators by the denominator, and I'll show you how I do it ----

7/10 = 0.7, or 70%

4/5 = 0.8, or 80%

You can now see that the 80% is larger than the 70%, and, this is why 7/10 is less than 4/5 :D
