A jogger goes 0.8 mi east and then turns south. If the jogger finishes 1.7 mi fromthe starting point, how far south did the jogger go?

We can use Pythagoras theorem:


\begin{gathered} H^2=a^2+b^2 \\ \\ \end{gathered}

Where H=hypotenuse and "a" and "b" are the other sides of the triangule.

In the current problem, we have:

H = 1.7, a = 0.8, b=?

Then:

A jogger goes 0.8 mi east and then turns south. If the jogger finishes 1.7 mi fromthe-example-1
