Andrew can paint the neighbour's house 3 times as fast as Bailey. The year Andrew in Bailey work together, it took them 4 days. How long would it take each to paint the house?​

Let

x -----> Andrew's time to paint the house

y ----> Balley's time to paint the house

we have that

x+y=4 ------> equation A

x=y/3 -----> equation B

substitute equation B in equation A

(y/3)+y=4

solve for y

(4/3)y=4

y=3 days

x=3/2=1 day

therefore

Andrew's time to paint the house is 1 day

Balley's time to paint the house is 3 days
