It conveys a whole number. A fraction with a numerator that is equal to the denominator 1 -
(1)/(1), it clearly conveys the integer
1. And, greater than that, like
(7)/(1), (5)/(1), (10)/(1), all are whole numbers. When a fraction has a denominator of
1, it conveys the numerator as a whole number. Denominator 1 means that that there is one piece - that's whole! If there are seven pieces of wholes
((7)/(1)), it means there are seven wholes - an integer, which is
7.

So, the formulas can be laid as -
(x=1)/(1)=1
And,
(x\ \textgreater \ 1)/(1)=x
