Well, as far as the arithmetic is concerned, it could happen
in two different ways:

-- If you know the wave's 'period', that's enough right there.
The frequency is just the reciprocal of the period. That is, 1/period .

-- The other way, you need to know both the wave's speed and
its wavelength. Then
Frequency = ( speed / wavelength ) .
