46 is 100 times greater than .46. The easiest way to explain this is showing how we move the decimal point. If we were to multiply by 1 we would get .46. If we were to multiply by 10 we would get 4.6 and if we multiply by 100 we get 46.0. Every time you add an additional zero you move the decimal point to the right one position.
