Florence was a major metropolitan city during the Renaissance - it still is one of the major art capitals in the world. Lots of people lived their, especially the rich people - and rich people who loved to buy art! During the Renaissance, many artists moved to Florence to be near the money, and art had a huge boom as they churned out of works as fast as they could make them. hope this helps!!!!!!
