Ottoman sultan Mehmet II helped to strengthen the empire by promoting religious diversity. He let religious minorities such as Christians and Jews practice their religion freely. Mehmet II was a great conqueror and expanded the Ottoman Empire and is still very much revered today. He equally ended the rule of the Byzantine Empire.
