National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act
The vehicles used at the time were often highly unsafe and caused a lot of problems for the people who purchased them. Many of them would even fail during driving and people would get seriously hurt or killed. This is why the act was made to protect consumers because it presented a new set of safety standards that the manufacturers had to adhere to.

National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act because People became more aware of how dangerous car and accidents on the road are. In response, the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act was passed, adding and modifying road safety laws.
