cost of the trip = 350

9 per hour (convenience store)

12 per hour ( babysis)

______________________

a)

Linear equation

y = hours worked babysitting

x = hours worked at a convenience store

y = mx + b

m= (y2-y1)/ (x2-x1)

y-intercept is (0, b)

b= 30

points

point 1 (40, 0) x1= 40; y1= 0

point 2 (0, 30) x2= 0 ; y2= 30

m = (30-0)/(0-40)

m= -3/4

Replacing m and b

y = -0.75 x + 30

b) Point b (32, 6)

x= 32 and y = 6

32* 9 per hour + 6* 12 = 360

That means, he works 32 hours in the store and 6 hours as a baby sister to earn 360

__________________________

c) point d (24, 8)

24* 9 per hour + 8* 12 = 360

that means, he works 24 hours in the store and 8 hours as a baby sister to earn 312

this is not a solution because he needs at least $ 350 for the trip
