If there aren't leaves there is no photosynthesis. Photosynthesis makes food. Leaves has clorplasts in them which make food from light and Co2

Leaves are needed in a tree because a tree needs photosynthesis in order to survive, and the leaves bring in the photosynthesis, and photosysnthesis makes food so that why a tree needs leaves.
