Using the distributive property to find the following:

1) (a + b ) ( a + b ) = a * ( a + b) + b * (a+b) = a^2 + ab + ab + b^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2

2) (a-b) (a+b) = a * (a+b) - b (a+b) = a^2 + ab - ab - b^2 = a^2 - b^2

3) (a - b) * (a - b) = a * (a -b) - b * (a - b) = a^2 - ab - ab + b^2 = a^2 - 2ab + b^2

so, as shown the fist and the third are similar when multiplying two similar parentheses , it will given a complete square

while the second, one of the parentheses conject to the other , the result will be the difference of the squares
